We embrace a mindful way of living

We all play our part

At the Kirchwies nature chalets, You will experience that a sustainable holiday in South Tyrol is not about compromise, quite the opposite: here, You gain wonderfully cosy comfort, delightfully fresh flavours and a wealth of authentic experiences in nature.

Your host Walter is a qualified carpenter and personally designed, planned and, in part, built our chalets and eco lodges in Italy, as well as creating their interior design. The buildings meet the KlimaHaus A standard (the second-highest energy efficiency class). In addition, we have implemented many further measures to make our operations, and Your stay, even more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Building sustainably
Parts of the interior  of our nature chalets have been crafted from natural materials sourced directly from our own land. For example, our stone washbasins are made from boulders uncovered during construction, and the wooden handles come from our forests. Our underfloor heating is highly energy-efficient, while natural wood fibre insulation retains warmth effectively. Large window fronts also bring light and warmth into each unit.

Making use of renewable resources
We generate our energy from our own photovoltaic system as well as from green electricity sourced in South Tyrol. In the village, a district heating plant produces sustainable heat using woodchips. Thanks to our electric charging stations, You can also enjoy sustainable mobility during Your stay at our nature chalets.
We use rainwater and well water to irrigate our gardens and fruit trees. For this purpose, we have created a large water reservoir.

Keeping nature clean
At our resort, we place great importance on avoiding food waste. At the buffet, in the rooms and wherever possible, we avoid individual packaging and single-use items. Instead of imported “specialities”, we offer wholesome, zero-kilometre products from our own farm. For a sustainable holiday in South Tyrol, You can hire an e-bike or make use of the region’s public transport free of charge. Travelling here by bus or train is, of course, easy and convenient. We also continue to make our grounds greener by planting more trees – allowing You to enjoy a truly nature-focused holiday in South Tyrol.

A mindful approach to nature and resources. That’s what defines a sustainable holiday in South Tyrol.

Those who work with nature and its treasures learn to love it and want to protect and preserve it.
